Insert Coin

After you put in your money, and press Start, you're taken to the screen where you can choose which characters you'd like to play. Use the joystick to move the cursor onto which character you want to play and press any button.

Pick A Speed... Any Speed

Some machines will come configured to allow you to choose the speed of your game. You have two choices: Normal and Turbo. This option will be presented to you (if it's enabled for your machine) right after you choose your character.

Controls

The controls are set up in the standard "Street Fighter" style, with each players having one joystick and six buttons. The buttons are arranged in two rows of three buttons each.

The top row of buttons are punches, while the bottom row is kicks. Looking at just one row, the button on the far left does a quick, but weak attack. The button on the far right does a powerful, yet slow attack; while the button in the middle... take a guess.

Ready... FIGHT!

As the match is ready to begin, and you've chosen the character you want to play, you'll see two large pictures of your fighter and your opponent. Both characters will burst through these large pictures as though they were windows, and fall a long distance onto the battlefield.

While the announcer is announcing the fight, you can move your character into position although you cannot throw any attacks. So be careful how you move yourself before you start, you could position yourself directly in front of a fist right when the action begins!

Common Moves

There are some things that everybody in the game can do; and they're all laid out for you right here:
Dash In f,f or 1+2+3
Dash Away b,b
Super Jump d,u or 4+5+6
Infinity Counter IC+3 (IC = b,db,d)
Select Gem Start
Use Gem QCB+1+2+3

Meters and Gauges

There are several different "meters" to keep track of in this game, one for each of your character's health, and another meter for your fighter's Super Energy.

Your Health Meter measures how much strength your fighter has left in each round and when your character takes a hit, damage is removed from it.

When your health meter runs out, your character has lost the round. If it is the second round that you've lost, you lose the game.

Your Super Meter charges up when you attack your opponent, and when it reaches the top, you gain one "level" of Super. At that point, the meter returns to the bottom to start charging again, until it reaches the maximum Level 3.

Throws and Tech. Hits

Throws can be done in this game, and to protect those dirty rotten whiners that:
  1. Complain
  2. Stop their game and stare at you, waiting for you to make eye contact
  3. Expect you to give them a free throw
  4. Generally get indignant and throw a toddler temper tantrum
whenever you throw them; you can lighten the damage that throws take away by Tech. Hiting out of them. This is done by pressing Forward on your joystick and a punch, while you're getting thrown.

Roll to Recover

Similar to Street Fighter Alpha 2, you can recover from falling over by rolling. This is done the same way as in Alpha 2, by making a B,DB,D motion (also the same motion for an Infinity Counter - IC) when your character hits the ground.

Super Moves

Everybody, to my knowledge, has at least one Super Move. It is not (to my knowledge) possible to control what "level" of Super Move you do like you can in SFA2.

Many characters can invoke their Super Moves while they're in the air.

Infinity Counters

These are pretty similar to Alpha Counters in the Street Fighter Alpha series. When somebody attacks you and you block the attack, you can quickly strike back at them (usually before they can recover from their move) with an Infinity Counter.

You must have at least one Level of Super Meter to do this. As soon as you block the attack, make the IC motion (b,db,d) and press a punch button (I usually just hit Fierce punch.) There will be a flash of light and your character will quickly strike your opponent with an Infinity Counter.
